Catawba and Lincoln County’s Board Certified Endodontist

Proudly serving patients and dentists across the foothills of North Carolina

What is an endodontist?

An endodontist is first a general dentist who has chosen to specialize by completing an additional 2-3 years of training beyond dental school. Their additional training focuses on diagnosing and treating tooth pain and problems relating to the inside (pulp) of the tooth via the administration of root canal therapy and other endodontic treatment modalities. At present less than 3% of dentists are endodontist

Dr. Jon Hartley completed his dental training at the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina. After practicing general dentistry for 3 years, he made the decision to specialize and was accepted at the world-renowned University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas where he completed a rigorous 24-month advanced training program in endodontics.

In addition to the years he has spent in advanced training, Dr. Hartley is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Less than 25% of endodontists in the nation have completed this rigorous 3-step process to achieve board certification. Dr. Hartley is currently the only board-certified endodontist in both Lincoln and Catawba County.

Why Choose Us

Why choose an endodontist?

Experience
On average, an endodontist performs ~25 root canal treatments a week while general dentists perform less than 2.
Efficiency
A practice limited to endodontics is typically much more efficient in endodontic treatment with higher success rates and minimal chance for complications. This translates into positive experiences and faster healing rates for patients.
Availability
Most endodontists have built in flexibility in their schedule to accommodate emergencies ensuring patients are seen as fast as possible and relieved of their dental pain quickly.
Advanced Technology
In addition to their advanced education in endodontics and experience, many endodontists use state of the art dental technology such as dental operating microscopes, 3D cone beam CT imaging, ultrasonic instrumentation and irrigation to treat their patients and improve healing/success rates.
