Root Canal Treatment

Should the nerve of your tooth become inflamed or infected then a root canal treatment is needed to retain the tooth.  No matter what the initiating event is, root canal treatment when performed properly will result in the inside of the tooth being disinfected and then sealed up with root filling materials thus allowing you to retain your natural tooth.  Once your treatment is complete you will return to your dentist for a final restoration or crown.

Root Canal Retreatment

Sometimes teeth that have previously received root canal treatment fail due to one or a combination of several factors including but not limited to: persistent bacterial infection, missed canals or anatomy, inadequate disinfection, inadequate root filling, not receiving a crown in a timely fashion or complications during the initial treatment.  No matter what the cause of the failure is, Dr. Hartley will assess your situation and decide if you are a candidate for root canal retreatment.  If so, retreatment will be completed.  After treatment is complete you will return to your general dentist for any restorative needs they seem fit.

Endodontic Microsurgery

Sometimes teeth with persistent endodontic infections following either initial root canal therapy or retreatment need surgical intervention in order to heal.  This is accomplished via endodontic microsurgery.  Dr. Hartley is one of the only endodontic practitioners in the state to offer this treatment modality.  Using our state of the art equipment, Dr. Hartley is able to plan and execute root end surgery that results in the removal of your endodontic infection and the tooth being sealed to allow for healing and resolution of your symptoms.

Vital Pulp Therapy

Is an endodontic procedure that aims to preserve and maintain the vitality and health of the pulp tissue.  This procedure is most commonly performed in young patients, children and adolescents, where the tooth is not fully formed.  By maintaining the vitality of the pulp tissue the tooth is able to complete its natural formation process ensuring the patient has a fully developed adult tooth.

Regenerative Endodontic

Is a groundbreaking treatment modality in the field of endodontics that allows for regeneration or revascularization of the pulp tissue inside the tooth.  This procedure allows for continued development of the tooth after vitality has been lost.  This is most commonly done for patients age 8-15 years old with 2 main goals in mind: Increased root length and width to help safeguard the tooth against fracture and subsequent necrosis followed by extraction moving forward.

Fracture or Cracked Tooth

Fractured teeth are extremely common in the world of dentistry.  Unfortunately they come in many different shapes, sizes, and levels of severity.  Some fractured teeth are repairable no problem, others are beyond hope, and many exist somewhere in between those 2 states.  Your Endodontist is the best person to evaluate your tooth if it is fractured!  Using advanced training, technology and experience they can help determine if a tooth is a good candidate to attempt to save via endodontic treatment and a crown.

Dental Trauma Management

Dental trauma is another highly common issue that affects many patients of all ages.  Trauma to the dentition often affects the pulp of tooth and therefore endodontic treatment may be required. 3-D CBCT imaging has become the standard of care in endodontics as it has greatly increased the chances for success while helping mitigate potential complications during treatment.  This mode of imaging helps endodontists accurately diagnose complex root anatomy, identify hidden and extra canals, detect fractures in teeth, and plan surgical procedures in an effort to avoid vital anatomical structures in the jaws.  These benefits among others have led to improved treatments outcomes and reduced complications.
